Sharing another of my favorite pieces, this time with an interesting story to go with how I happened across it and ended up owning it years later.
September/October 2009, Cash King Variety Store, "Four Corners" area of Eugene, OR:
I was a frequent shopper at this funky little place, sort of like a dollar/dime store with cigarettes and smoking materials and assorted (often expired/off-brand) human and pet food items, when I first moved into my neighborhood. I mostly was into 1/24 scale at this time, and didn't trust Greenlight because I had lost a bunch of my Racing Champions and some older European and Japanese 1/43s to metal fatigue not long before and figured that if Racing Champions and my Yonezawa/Diapet/Sakura/Eidai castings were crumblers, then Greenlights were too, but still loved the styling of the casting for how close in styling it was to the '64 Oldsmobile Cutlass I owned then (and which was often mistaken for a Plymouth or even a Rambler). I never bought it, but went back one day to find it gone, and always wondered whatever became of it, especially so once I got into Greenlight customization/collecting years later.
November 2018, my friend Brian's hobby shop and diecast boutique, Springfield, OR
Brian gets in a box of older GL, M2, Jada, etc. On top, there was the '64 Sport Fury in all its glory, unopened. and still wearing a Cash King pricetag. I bought it, at long last, liberated it promptly, and it's still to this day one of my top GLs in my collection.
