  • Yet MORE new MBX 3 / 5-Packs and 2020 Mission Force

Matchbox has been rocking these past few months with new product! And guess what, if you were a fan of the Mission Force sets back in 2012ish ~, then you're in luck as they are back for 2020! If you don't know what I am talking about, click here to see what they were like back in 2012.

And also another new 5-pack and some 3 packs. 3-packs are International only, right? Has anyone ever seen them in US stores?

Put your thoughts be below. I absolutely love the new stuff MBX is putting out.

The Mission Force were better when they came with a Real Working Rig included, I have a few of them, and the later ones when they eliminated the RWR, but it's good to see them back.

I remember the Toys R Us near me then had some 3 packs about 10 years ago, they were like a short size 5 pack, and only $3, once in a while you'd find a playset or multipack model included, but otherwise most were standard singles, I only remember them at TRU for maybe a year or so, they used to keep them on pegs by the checkout, and now that I think about it I only remember the one TRU in the area that had them.

Maybe they will eventually include a RWR as if you look on eBay, some of the sets did have it and others didn't. So I guess we never know.

That is interesting about the 3-packs. So it may be only international especially since the last time you saw them was 10 years ago...

We get 3 packs in Oz, but they are boxed, like the 5 pack.

Same here on the three packs.

Like Douglas I preferred when the mission forces came with an RWR, but the return is welcomed.

I’ll most likely pick up the Marine Rescue set for the Hazard Squad.

          overall good stuff!

"Same here" as to Doug or Skwerl?

I rarely, if ever, see MBX 3-packs. I didn't even know they were a thing until I saw a few Rural King put out as a part of their Christmas toy assortment 2-3 years back. I haven't saw them since; even last year at Christmas at this same Rural King.

The newer Mission Force sets are neat, but they look overloaded on cards. I'm getting that set when I see it for the Mercedes G-Class truck and the cargo plane.

The Marine Rescue 5-Pack. I'll definitely be getting it for the Caprice and Hazard Squad; mainly as customs bases. Looks like the all-white Hazard Squad will also have clear windows if I'm interpreting it right. That will be a good basis for a lot of customs, primarily EMS Rescue squad trucks. I guess they're expanding on the idea introduced with the Hummer H3 Concept early this year. Same goes for the Caprice--strippe down, it's a good customs base. But, I love the livery on the Hazard Squad as well.

I wish they could give us some premium line Hazard Squads with chrome base/interior and the old tooling, like what they did with the FDNY issue.

The five pack Marine rescue looks sharp and will be one I will add. My old eyes can't quite make out all of the cars in the three packs but I don't see any emergency vehicles among them. It is neat to see MB offering so many new items.

                      PJ,

The three pack on the left appears to have three of the models from the up coming Marine Rescue 5 set, the center model looks to be the Chevy Caprice Police Car.

Thank you Brian - the "joy" of younger eyes.

Thanks for showing the 3-packs and the Mission Force set. I, too, am happy to see that series (Mission Force) return. But the Marine Rescue 5-pack will find a special place in my collection, for sure.

I don't tend to worry much about 3-packs any longer. They are starting to become a smaller version of their respective 5-packs taking 3 of the models and selling them in a smaller group. The UK doesn't sell them. I was told retailers wanted one or the other. Not both. Best get the bigger ones. We saw some briefly at Home Bargains last year, but I checked them over and they were unchanged from their respective 5-packs. The ones shown here will be a part of upcoming 5-packs too.

As to the Mission Force, that was a little unexpected. Nice to see the Matchbox range expanding even further. I have no idea if the planes are repeats, but the ATV looks like the 2012 5-pack issue (except originally the wheels were chrome, and they don't look chrome) and the MBX 4x4 is a repeat of the 2010 basic range. Can't see wheels, but is the interior a shinier grey? As to the Merc 6x6, that looks unique. I may be needing to get this when it hits. I guess there will be a number of sets, not just the one. I am waiting to see if we see sneak peeks of any more.

Here's an early Farm 3-pack I found in my area years ago:
