  • Vintage Lego "Town Plan"

A good friend of mine helped me acquire a vintage "Town Plan" plan from Lego. I think the cardboard is in pretty good condition considering it already is 50+ years old. Well, at least the inside is in good condition - that's all that matters.

The Town Plan was originally made for Lego's 1/87 scale models. The streets are probably wide enough to fit 1/64 scale models as well, but haven't tried it yet.

I enjoy seeing vintage stuff, they made a very nice town layout, looks like it is designed for use with our little diecast toy cars, or am I remembering right, didn't lego make their own 3" diecast cars too, long ago?

Wow! That is so cool to see. I kind of remember seeing pictures of this many years ago - maybe in a model train magazine. Douglas - as far as I know Lego only made a series of 1/87th scale cars and trucks - had a few at one time but all headed off for other garages.

        Thanks Douglas! Thanks John! :-)

You're right, Lego did some 1/87 scale cars, trucks and bikes. I have two cars, a bike and a truck. I'm including some photos.

I'm also including a photo of a decked out Town Plan I've seen at a toy fair many moons ago.

        Photo #1 & #2 - Mercedes 220S (W111)
        Photo #3 - Ford Taunus 17m (Bathtub)
Photo #4 - a complete gas station from 1966 (set number 325) with a Mercedes Tanker Truck in Shell livery
        Photo #5 - motorcycle rider
Photo #6 - decked out Town Plan

These town plans of Lego are very nice and give some possibilities for dioramas.
I also have a few plans, cars and figures.

Especially the cyclists did it to me.

Awesome stuff, Patrick and Jörg! I had no idea Lego ever made proper models of vehicles, and the bikers are so cool!

              Oh. Yeah. "Cyclists". Sorry.

              I get it, Officer.

Hi Patrick, did the Lego MB 220Sb ever include a grille star (or at least a nub)?

No, unfortunately it never included a grille star or a nub. But there's an embossed/raised star on the boot lid (just like on Wiking's MB 600 models).
