  • Mix & Match Maverick

Inspired by LouisCyphre 's discussion of the '71 Maverick Grabber and Custom Ford Maverick castings and the 2 different S30 Z castings by Hot Wheels, I decided to drill out a couple of thrift-store bin-of-death finds. I plan on making this look like a street machine with the clear glass, Brazilian market taillights and driving lights in the grille of the Custom Maverick casting, red paint over a detailed-out black interior, but no fender flares, fender mirrors or radical ground effects. It would likely have a 302 V8 or a turbocharged 2.3 four cylinder in it if it was a real car.

I recently disposed of my spare Mavericks and took them off my possible customs list. I guess the appeal waned, and I have way tooooo many cars!!

When people ask how many cars I have I always ask 'erm, do you mean assembled at the moment?'

I hope you don't mind me posting this in here, but I like how they're similar but not the same. I got stock taillights and a shaved bumper.

(and yes, my 'import meet-up' is mostly Fords and Chevys, with a Saturn for good measure; because in Vinland every car is an import)

Got the interior painted (with woodgrain dash in the style of that of a Mercury Comet, extra gauges across the dash span like a European sports car, and "leather" seating surfaces), taillights, bumpers & grille/lights detailed, and exhaust outlets highlighted.

The color was a good choice, works well with this car.
