I remember how amazing that sliding door was when it was new.

I agree, usually opening parts are nice to have, but the casting looks much cleaner and realistic without the opening door. And if you ever had a caravan the doors only opened for the first 100K and then the latches broke free of teh door skin and you couldn't open the door from the outside anyway. (owner of 3 DODGE caravans and 2 of the 3 had broken door latches (on both sides to boot)

Ha. Sounds like my mom's Geo Prizm from back in the day. We were changing the inside door latches constantly.

Im on my 8th Caravan over the past 20 years and none of them
had problems with door handles. That said, 2008 was plagued
with door handle problems although I have not owned that year.

While I can appreciate the position of disliking the opening door
for cosmetic reasons, for me the play value is a strong point for
              collecting them.

Had problems with both the 2008 and 2009 that I owned, simple fix once you get the inside door panel off, and it might be a Canadian north weather issue, lots of rust happens real fast

never owned a minivan but IF I did it'd be a G1 with the V6 & I would decorate it like the NASA van
if I got one the last Chrysler T&C made I'd put on the faux wood paneling on the outside

This seems to affect mainly models of the late eighties with white plastic parts. I saw a K-159 Racing Car Transporter the other day, still in the box, that looked like Hell.
