  • Majorette 5-packs spotted in Canada

Never knew Majorette did five-packs. Not bad at $10 Canadian, since each single car retails for about $3 (though there seem to be more moving parts in the singles).

Wonder if any of those will show up in the USA, or only 'commonwealth' countries and where French is spoken. Without Toys R Us around any more, it's Fred Meyer and Walmart or nothing. (Dollar Tree is a "johnny come lately" stocking rebounds of stuff already picked over in the grocers.)

Years ago Majo did 5 pks, 90's I think anyways, they never offered any exclusives in theirs back then, but it was usually nice themes, It is good to see a return to them.

The store is London Drugs - a chain that is local to Western Canada as far as I know.
I only bought the pack with the emergency vehicles but I suspect I'll be going back in the near future for at least one more.

Neat to see Majorette showing up in retail stores. I am thinking back in the '80's there was a London Drug in Estevan, SK in their mall.

Funny I came back to this thread today. I just spread out all my Majorette fire vehicles on the living room floor to sort them into 'country-specific' fire brigades so I can more readily know when to buy or not buy something I see on ebay. Some country 'sets' consist of an Amorak and Toyota pickup (so far) and nothing else; others are a combo of a Man aerial and one or two other rigs. Some have the Zetros pumper, an aerial and one or two others, and so on. I must have dozens of Zetros pumpers...I kinda developed a crush on it. But the "english-language" set ("Fire Brigade") is huge in my collection; next in size is France (Sapeurs Pompiers) or German/Swiss (Feuerwehr)--both well represented; Poland has a significant presence, some hispanic language fire services are represented, and nordic countries as well as eastern Europe and the Balkans.

I have an abundance of that Zetros and the Man aerials from around the world. I'm very happy with the variety, but it makes me think there are models I'm missing that already are out, and spaces/gaps I hope will be filled in the near future.

I'll run a thread in the Apparatus Bay when I have them all sorted out. With pictures, natch.

                    Nice finds..!

Majorette did 5packs for the last 20 to 30 years ....sometimes mixed like the ones that you spotted, sometimes theme related (SOS, Army, Construction or all-BMW, all-Porsche and so on).

Success of 5packs is always limited as mostly you do not need all models included. And as models like the Audi R8 are included in nearly gift pack, square pack, 5pack, its no wonder that it is the most produced recemt Majorette car. But nowadays also the less wanted, because its everywhere in every box ;-)

With Jada having been purchased by Dickie, the fact that Hero Patrol now uses Majorette models (particularly Sonic Flashers), and plans to make the new Formula-E line available worldwide, I am hoping this results in Majorette being more common in the US and Canada.

These are some pretty nice Majorette packs, though I do wish they'd have all five cars in each pack sticking to ONE theme.

Just an FYI (not sure where you're located). London Drugs is only located in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. If you're out east, then there might not be any.

Thanks, Stampede. Yes, I am guessing you're in Calgary by the username. I'm near Niagara Falls / Toronto. That being said, maybe another store imports them as well. Sometimes the fun is just in the hunt!

Good guess for my location, but I'm actually a ways west of there. Never thought of the connotation of my screen name until now!
