    • For anyone who is interested, I made the door sculptures from a piece of steel plate I took off an ancient Caterpillar tractor I found quietly rusting away out in the bush years ago.

I machined out the holes, but the rest is all hand cut and filed.

The little brackets were hand cut and bent from some scrap steel sheet, then rattle-canned (badly).

All held together with a couple of brass rivets.

Art from junk; the best kind of recycling!

I was wondering if you were a student of Kurt Schwitters, but you couldn't possibly be old enough.

I'm not usually into Japanese cars but these are stellar!!!
Due to the recent budget cuts,
the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, plus the
current state of the economy, the light at the end
of the tunnel has been turned off.

Thanks Daniel – aren’t they amazing models!!

I certainly wasn’t in the market for yet another 240Z, but just couldn’t resist these two.

The pearlescent paint on the purple one is incredible. How do they achieve that on such a small surface? I just don’t know.

…and the graphics on the other one are so sharp.

              Agreed! Thanks Guy64.

Yep, I’m a fan of Schwitters work, and collage and assemblage in general. Though with these 2 monumental gate-posts, I was maybe thinking more Richard Serra.

In my other life I am involved with art and design, though I don’t get much time for it these days – mostly assemblage, sculpture and jewelry from found objects. Used to be heavily involved with digital art.

                • Today…more tales from the kitchen table, because it’s still too crappy to take the Showroom outdoors to photograph.

As a gangly young lad growing up in 1970’s, rainy Northern England, I can remember 2 occasions of love at first sight…

Princess Leia, and the first time I saw a picture of the Lancia Stratos!

I often wondered what it would be like to drive one of the homologation vehicles in amongst modern traffic? Not easy I bet, even with the detuned V6.

This version from MiniGT is just spot on, in my humble opinion.

                    • A couple of weeks back I slagged off Hot Wheels in a most vicious fashion, for their crappy plastic Car Culture wheels.

I still stand by that. For example, I think that the new Talladega / Chevelle twin pack is ruined by the horrible plastic wheels (just my opinion).

But at the same time, HW can also create amazing looking wheels, like on the recent Leno 300SL, and on this 1995 Celica!

Just look at them! Perfect! Great job Hot Wheels.

Such a great model, especially for the price.

Even though it does have tampo-ed front & rear ends.

                        • We still have a bit of work to do on the Showroom upgrades.

Thinking maybe rock garden around the front…larger pergola…some structural work inside.

Actually I’m supposed to be meeting with the architects right now about some revisions, but they are late as usual.

Which firm did I go with? They’re a new company, just a bunch of young guys, called PIG Architects.

They come with glowing references from work done abroad – Dubai, Sydney, Berlin, Loompaland and Mega-City One. Of course, I didn’t feel the need to check any of these.

Oh, here they come right now!
